COMMON QUESTIONS

Does ShotNest use an account?

No. ShotNest does not use accounts or logins.

Your app records are stored locally on your iPhone by default. With your permission, ShotNest can exchange selected information with Apple Health or send a limited, read-only snapshot to your paired Apple Watch. When available and explicitly enabled, iCloud Sync stores structured records in your private CloudKit database without creating a ShotNest account.

ShotNest support cannot view or recover your detailed local or private CloudKit records.

Does ShotNest sync with iCloud?

iCloud Sync is an optional feature. When it is available in your version of ShotNest, it operates only after you explicitly enable it.

It stores and reconciles structured ShotNest records in your private CloudKit database for recovery and cross-device continuity through your Apple Account. Source label photos stay only on the iPhone where you added them.

ShotNest cannot see your private CloudKit records in Apple’s developer tools and does not receive your Apple Account credentials.

What is Community Insights?

Community Insights is an optional, first-party feature for broad patterns in recorded supply and logged shots. It operates only when it is available in your version of ShotNest and after you explicitly opt in.

The monthly summaries are derived on your iPhone. They can include catalog medication IDs, limited supply details, recorded additions, and logged shot counts and dose totals. They do not include individual records, exact event dates, notes, injection sites, lot numbers, label content or photos, weight, other Apple Health data, contact information, or precise location.

Supabase processes the contribution using a random, pseudonymous identity. ShotNest reports only aggregates and suppresses medication or source results until at least 100 participating installations are represented. You can stop future contributions or delete your contribution in Privacy & Data settings.

Does the app use analytics?

The ShotNest app has no advertising or third-party analytics. Apple may provide ShotNest with aggregated App Store performance information and, when users choose to share it with Apple, aggregated usage, diagnostic, and crash information. These reports do not include detailed ShotNest records or health content.

Community Insights is a separate, first-party, opt-in feature and does not operate unless it is available and you explicitly enable it.

The ShotNest website uses Google Analytics. Website analytics are separate and do not include your ShotNest app records or health information.

How do I enable shot reminders?

Open Settings → Notifications in ShotNest and turn on Shot Reminder.

iOS will ask for permission the first time. If notifications were previously denied, use the button in ShotNest to open iOS Settings and allow notifications.

Shot reminders are scheduled locally on your iPhone. ShotNest does not register a push token or send your schedule to a notification server.

How does Apple Health work with ShotNest?

Apple Health access is optional.

With your permission, ShotNest can import selected body measurements. Saving weights you log in ShotNest back to Apple Health is a separate setting.

Deleting ShotNest data does not delete information already saved in Apple Health or revoke Health permissions.

What information is sent to Apple Watch?

If you use the companion Apple Watch app, ShotNest sends a limited, read-only snapshot through Apple Watch connectivity.

It can include your next-shot schedule, medication and dose, suggested injection site, and active supply status. Public complication content excludes medication and dose.

ShotNest does not use a server for this transfer.

How are supply-label photos handled?

Supply-label photos are processed on your iPhone using Apple Vision.

Resized source photos and recognized text are saved locally with the related supply record so you can review them. Source photos remain on the iPhone where you added them. When iCloud Sync is available and enabled, the structured supply record and recognized text sync through your private iCloud database, but the source image files do not.

What happens if I delete the app?

Deleting ShotNest removes its locally stored records and saved label photos from that iPhone.

When iCloud Sync is available, structured records can restore after reinstalling only if sync was enabled and a cloud copy remains. Information already saved in Apple Health remains in Health.

How do I delete my ShotNest data without deleting the app?

Open Profile settings and choose Delete ShotNest Data.

This removes ShotNest’s local records and saved label photos and, when iCloud Sync is available and authorized, propagates structured-record deletion through iCloud. It also cancels scheduled ShotNest reminders and sends a cleared snapshot to a paired Apple Watch when Watch connectivity is available.

If Community Insights is available and you have contributed, ShotNest also attempts to delete that contribution; an offline deletion request is saved and retried.

It does not delete information already saved in Apple Health or revoke Health permissions.

Can support recover my records?

No. ShotNest does not receive your detailed local app records, and private CloudKit records are not visible to ShotNest in Apple’s developer tools. Support cannot inspect or restore them.
